Dillard University, November 14-16, 2008

This student conference will focus on the racial, social, and environmental justice issues involved in the post-Katrina and -Rita Gulf Coast. The Dillard conference will also serve as a call to action for this generation's college campuses, with a focus on the Gulf Coast Civic Works campaign (HR 4048). The conference is hosted by Deep South Center for Environmental Justice and the Gulf Coast Civic Works Project.

Pre-Conference: Friday 9 am - 5 pm

Friday Night: 7-9:30 pm: Keynote Address

Saturday morning: 8:30 am-10:30 am

• Break-out Session: Create tactics and strategy on how students can advocate for HR 4048 on their campuses and community

5:30-7 pm: Dinner

7-9 pm: Spoken Word, Open Mic

Sunday Morning: 9 am-12 pm

• Explore lessons from previous and current movements (e.g., labor, student, feminist, civil rights, peace) and discuss how these lessons can help guide this movement.

• How do we build a national campus movement for racial, social, and environmental justice in the Gulf Coast and America using HR 4048 as a pilot project
